School Aims and Curriculum Statement

At John Wycliffe Primary School we aim to:

  • develop young people who are inquisitive and aspire to reach their full potential in all that they do.
  • raise achievement in a safe and caring environment where children are inspired through a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • provide a school where the social, moral, spiritual and cultural aspects of learning are celebrated as well as experienced through practical learning activities.
  • model and lead through example.

We strive for the highest standards of behaviour and academic achievement of all children and provide appropriate degrees of support and challenge. We promote initiative and engender high self- esteem through building resilience and independence. We do this through celebrating their achievements and developing young people in school leadership roles so they are part of the school’s drive to create a learning culture. We aim to prepare our children for their important role in society as tenacious and enquiring individuals with the skills and the motivation to be life-long learners.

We believe that our children should have equal access to education in line with the Equality Act of 2010 and we ensure that the school celebrates diversity and equal opportunities as part of its over-arching provision of the curriculum and school life. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum which is matched to the different abilities and learning styles of individual children. In addition to the Foundation Stage and National Curriculum subjects we offer religious, multicultural, environmental, personal, social and health education.

We believe in developing a strong partnership between children, staff, parents and governors where children’s learning is at the heart of everything we do. We expect our staff and children to be reflective in their actions and relationships so that we continue to strive to be the best and improve our school.
